The City of Marshall is preparing for the prospect of having to assume maintenance of a main roadway that’s currently under the jurisdiction of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
City officials and MoDOT recently visited to discuss the future maintenance of W. Arrow St., which is currently signed as Route 20 from U.S. Route 65 east to English Street. First ward councilman Drew Green says the discussions were spurred by MoDOT re-evaluating what roadways within the city are legally considered their right of way.
Green says a chief concern of the city is ensuring that should MoDOT transfer right of way of Arrow Street, that the road is in good condition and the city doesn’t have to immediately commit funds to its repair.
Green provided an update on those discussions during the Thursday, Mar. 5 forum on the city’s proposed half-cent transportation sales tax for street improvements.
