Sales and use tax collections during February across Saline County were nearly as robust as the previous month’s totals, but most were still higher than the previous year.

According to figures from the Missouri Department of Revenue and prepared by Saline County Treasurer Jared Brewer, Saline County collected $118,580.71 in sales tax revenue during February, which was remitted to the county in March. Compared to the previous month, collections were down $10,776.89, with three fewer days in the month. February’s sales tax collection was higher than the previous year by $7680.24, and averaged out to about $4235.03 per day. Similar outcomes also took place for the county’s economic development and law enforcement sales taxes.

Use tax collections slipped in February, both compared to the previous month and a year ago. The county brought in $88,504.22, down 23 percent from the previous month and 9.6 percent from previous year. Three months into 2026, the average per month for both use ($96,254.79) and sales ($119,806.93) tax collections in Saline County remain higher than the previous year.

The monthly tax figures were announced during last Wednesday’s session of the Saline County Commission. Also at last week’s session, commissioners approved the hire of John Hall as a new legal assistant and assistant prosecuting attorney, starting May 18, and announced the reappointment of Tara Brewer as Saline County Health Director. The commission also announced the annual Pinwheels for Prevention event will take place April 10 at 10 a.m., marking April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
