A Pilot Grove woman was killed when the vehicle she was a passenger in was struck at a four-way stop Monday, Mar. 16 in Cooper County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says icy conditions contributed to the two-vehicle collision Monday around 10:35 a.m. at the intersection of Routes 135 and E, five miles south of Pilot Grove. Troopers report that an SUV driven by a 74-year-old man from Pilot Grove had approached the intersection from the north and stopped. As the vehicle continued southbound, a westbound truck driven by a 32-year-old from Moberly was unable to make the stop at the sign and struck the SUV, sending it off the road and into another stop sign. The truck was then able to stop on the roadway.

The 71-year-old woman in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while its driver was treated for minor injuries at a Columbia hospital. No injuries were reported for the Moberly driver, who troopers say was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
