26-0317-nathan-swisher

The Marshall City Council will have another vacancy to fill this spring, following Nathan Swisher’s announcement that he is stepping down as second ward alderman effective immediately.

Swisher made his announcement at the end of the Tuesday, Mar. 17 city council meeting, just shy of the halfway point through his current term. City administrator JD Kehrman reflected on Swisher’s time with the council.
.

In his announcement, Swisher told the council that he appreciated the time he spent serving Marshall citizens.  Swisher had been named mayor pro tem in July, following the elevation of Craig Thompson to the mayor’s seat.  Swisher earned his current term on the council last year by defeating a write-in challenger, Bob Gauert.

The council will need to select Swisher’s replacement at a future meeting to complete the remaining year on the term.
