A Sedalia man has been charged after being accused of distributing cocaine in a protected location in Pettis County.
Investigators with the Sedalia Police Department’s Crime Resolution Unit learned in January 2026 that 31-year-old Rayquan Townsend was allegedly selling cocaine within protected locations in Sedalia and Pettis County. During the investigation, authorities were able to make controlled drug purchases from Townsend.
On March 18th, authorities served a search warrant and took Townsend into custody without incident. Police recovered $7,000 in cash from Townsend’s vehicle, as well as four ounces of cocaine, one pound of marijuana, and more U.S. currency believed to be the profit of illegal drug sales.
Townsend has been charged with two felonies for distribution of a controlled substance in a protected location, one county of delivering a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Bond has been set at $100,000 cash or surety. He is due for a counsel status hearing at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31st at Pettis County Circuit.
