For the second time this season, Smith-Cotton’s robotics teams clashed in a regional final, with Team SCREAM once again leading the way over Team SCREAM Jr.
The two teams from Sedalia led their respective alliances into the finals Saturday, April 11 at the Greater Kansas City Regional at Lee’s Summit North. The two teams achieved a similar finish last month in Arkansas. Team SCREAM, consisting of junior and seniors in the Smith-Cotton robotics program, finished second in the qualifying matches, while Team SCREAM Jr ranked fifth. Team SCREAM paired with the host Broncobots as well as the robotics team from Sapulpa, Okla. and won all four of their playoff contests, including a second-round bout with Team SCREAM Jr’s alliance. SCREAM Jr battled back through the one-loss bracket to reach the final, aided by teams from Dunlap, Ill. and Manhattan, Ks.
Both teams have qualified for this year’s FIRST World Championships later this month in Houston, Texas.
