The St Louis Blues closed out the 2025-26 NHL season on a high note Thursday, Apr. 16, as Robert Thomas recorded his second hat trick this month to lead St Louis to a 5-3 win at Utah.

The Blues claimed their fourth straight win when Logan Mailloux netted a backhanded shot with just under three minutes to go. Thomas scored twice in the second period, then sealed the win and hat trick with an empty net goal with 38 seconds remaining. It’s the second career hat trick for Thomas, who bagged the first of his career just two weeks ago at Colorado. Pavel Buchnevich scored St Louis’ first goal of the game, while Joel Hofer recorded 20 saves.

The Blues won the final four games of the season, after they had been eliminated from playoff contention. The season ends with the Blues fifth in the Central Division on 86 points, four behind the Los Angeles Kings for the Western Conference’s second wild card. Despite finishing above. 500 with a record of 37-33-12, the Blues are presently 11th in the NHL Draft order, making them eligible for the lottery to claim one of the top three picks this June in Buffalo.
