An Excello woman is facing charges of domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon after sheriff’s deputies were called to a Macon County residence over the weekend.

A probable cause statement accuses 38-year-old Ashley Rose Brown of discharging a shotgun in the direction of the victim’s pickup as he was arriving at the residence to pick up their daughter Saturday, Apr. 18. Deputies arrived at the residence, where Brown claimed that she shot in fear of the victim, but did not explain why she was scared. A nearby witness later told deputies she observed Brown standing on the front porch of the home with a shotgun pointed in the air. Deputies arrested Brown and obtained the shotgun as evidence.

Brown was charged Monday in Macon County Circuit Court, with bond set at $75,000 cash only. A bond reduction hearing is set for Tuesday at 2 p.m.
