
A Carroll County Sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured in a collision south of Bosworth that claimed the life of the other driver.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they responded to the two-vehicle crash Sunday, May 3 around 2 p.m. on Route 139, near County Road 220. According to the patrol, a 50-year-old Bosworth man was driving his pickup north in the southbound lane of the highway, striking the deputy’s patrol vehicle head-on. The Bosworth driver was pronounced dead at the scene; troopers noted he had not been wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision. The deputy, a 41-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was flown to a Columbia hospital.
The Patrol’s Major Crash Investigation Unit joined sheriff’s deputies in responding to the crash, which was Troop A’s 17th fatal crash reported in 2026.
