Racene A. Westermier, 80, of Sedalia, died Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 11:00 A.M., at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel, with Fr. Joseph Corel officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with Shane Alexander, Michael Bersano, Daniel Westermier, Zachery Bersano, Jack Alexander, and Mark Westermier serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia.

Born May 9, 1945 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Mae Hoff Jackson.  On November 4, 1967 in Sedalia, she married Mathew J. Westermier, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1984.

She is survived by a son, Daniel Westermier and his wife Madeleine of Sedalia; two daughters, Amy Alexander and her husband Shane of Smithville, and Julie Bersano and her husband Michael of Springfield; her longtime companion, David Velten; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, William Van Jackson and his wife Mary of Dallas, Texas; and a sister, Janice Jennings and her husband Gail of Green Ridge.  She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Audrey Lee Westermier.

Mrs. Westermier was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel, the Daughters of Isabella, and the TOPS Club.  She was a lifelong homemaker, and noted seamstress who did alterations for individuals as well as clothing and dry-cleaning establishments.  She had also worked for several years in the fabric department at Walmart in Sedalia.
