Marshall High School is sending two of its students to compete in the 97th MSHSAA Boys Tennis Championships on Thursday.
Sophmores Jase Knott and Aleksandar Simic will represent the Owls in the Class 1 Singles Championship held at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. Thursday’s pairings have already been released, with Knott to face North County’s Shey Bracken in the first round, while Simic will battle Wyatt Litton of Columbia Independent. Simic and Knott spoke to KMMO News about how they’re preparing for Thursday’s matches.
Both students will be accompanied by Head Coach Dustin Blankenship. He says each of them belong and deserve to compete at the highest level, even despite their youth.
The quarterfinals and consolation first round will take place on Thursday, with trophy matches being held on Friday. All matches will get underway at 9 a.m. in Springfield.
