The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has named the contractors that will construct expanded truck parking facilities along Interstate 70.

The design-build team of KCI and Bartlett and West beat out the Capital-Wilson team to win the project that’s part of the statewide Improve I-70 effort. The project will improve truck parking locations along the interstate in Concordia, Boonville, Mineola, and Wright City. The commission says the winning proposal will double the number of available truck parking stalls to just over 500. The proposal also calls for pavement improvements, a total of 195 car parking stalls and five RV parking stalls, bathroom remodels in Concordia and Wright City, and lighting upgrades. Contractors also plan to plant 17 acres of pollinator habitat across the locations.

KCI and Bartlett and West have a deadline of December 2028 to complete the project. A $33 million federal grant is helping to fund the upgrades. Construction is expected to begin this fall.
