A Salisbury woman escaped injury after two teenagers collided on a roadway outside Springfield on Wednesday, May 13.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by the 45-year-old woman was heading east on Bluegrass Road, a mile-and-a-half west of U.S. Route 65. The Patrol noted that around 8:45 p.m., an 18-year-old teenage male attempted to overtake the woman’s SUV, but drove into the path of a westbound pickup driven by another 18-year-old, resulting in a head-on collision. The two teenagers suffered serious injuries and were taken to a Springfield hospital. One of the teenagers had not been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The Salisbury woman’s SUV had minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene. She had been wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
