Two of the five suspects facing charges in connection with the kidnapping and death of 16-year-old Kayla Huff are now charged with her murder.
Amended first-degree murder charges were filed Friday, May 15 by Randolph County prosecutors against 19-year-old Hunter Ames and 20-year-old Alyana Mason. The two are accused of shooting Huff on May 6. Huff was reported missing that day, and her body was discovered late Wednesday evening after a weeklong search by authorities and volunteer groups. The two are also facing charges of kidnapping, while Ames is also charged with tampering physical evidence.
Two other adults—23-year-old Christopher Hull and 26-year-old Julian Mason—are also charged in connection with Huff’s death. The four are behind bars with no bond allowed. Hearings for the four are scheduled for Monday afternoon. A juvenile believed to have been involved is also behind bars, but has not been charged as an adult.
