
A Sturgeon man died in an early morning collision Monday, May 18 at an intersection north of Columbia.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 5:15 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 63 with eastbound Route 124, about ten miles north of Columbia. According to the patrol’s report, a 35-year-old man attempted to drive his car across the northbound lanes of U.S. 63, when he was struck in the driver’s side by a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Columbia woman. The Sturgeon driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Columbia woman was taken to a Columbia hospital with moderate injuries. Troopers noted in their report that neither driver had their seat belts on at time of the crash.
