The Marshall High School Baseball team fell to the Moberly Spartans for the third time this season, falling 4-1 in the Class Four, District Eight Semifinals on Wednesday, May 20.
The Owls struck first in the second inning, with Brody Kueker drilling an RBI single to score Kelar Pointer. The Owls would miss an opportunity to add more in the inning, stranding runners on first and third. Those were just two of the eight runners left on base for Marshall.
Moberly responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, then added two more in the fifth. The Owls brought the tying run to the plate in the sixth inning, but were unable to score any runs.
Brock Marshall took the loss for the Owls, allowing all four runs on six hits and two walks in six innings of work.
Moberly’s Kyler Fanning was the winner, tossing six innings of one-run ball with four punchouts. Nolan Samuel earned the save with a scoreless seventh.
The Owls end the season with a 13-14, significantly improved from a 2-21 season in 2025. Moberly now advances to the district championship game and will take on Southern Boone at 6 p.m. Friday, May 22.
