A Lexington resident, who allegedly led authorities on a high-speed vehicle chase that began just before noon on Monday, January 15, and ended with her having to be Tasered, has been charged with a felony in Lafayette County.
According to a probable-cause statement, a Lexington Police officer attempted to execute a traffic stop, but the vehicle reportedly sped away, with the chase reportedly reaching up to 100 miles per hour. The suspect’s vehicle allegedly was passing other vehicles in an unsafe manner during the pursuit. At the end of the pursuit, the driver reportedly exited the vehicle and ran from the officer. The woman reportedly did not obey any of the officer’s commands and continued to run. The officer reportedly pulled his Taser, and tried to get the woman to stop again. When she refused, the officer deployed the weapon. The suspect reportedly fell face first to the ground, suffering a cut on her chin.
Online court documents say 28-year-old Jennifer Landis has been charged with a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest, Detention, Stop by Fleeing– Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury or Death to Any Person. Bond reportedly has been set, but the amount is not available in court documents at this time.
An initial hearing for Landis at Lafayette County Circuit Court in Lexington is pending.
