The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is asking for the public’s help for information leading to the whereabouts of an injured bald eagle that reportedly was taken from the side of a highway in Benton County this past weekend.
According to a news release, at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, MDC received a report of an injured bald eagle that reportedly was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 65 near Nevius Lane, just south of Missouri Highway 7. A red-in-color Dodge truck and a blue-in-color minivan were reportedly last seen near the injured eagle.
Reportedly, possession of an eagle or eagle parts is a federal crime, where the injured eagle needs to be returned to MDC.
Anyone with information on the location of the injured eagle is asked to call Operation Game Thief at 1-(800)-392-1111. Persons reporting information can remain anonymous.
