A Sedalia man faces felony charges after law enforcement allegedly found an illegal drug hidden in a pack of cigarettes during a vehicle search last weekend in Pettis County.
According to a probable-cause statement, on January 27, Pettis County deputies reportedly conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for alleged improper license registration near the area of 10th Street and Beacon Avenue in Sedalia.
During the traffic stop, deputies spoke with the driver, 21-year-old Alekesy Ryakmyatullov, and allegedly noticed a glass pipe in the vehicle. Deputies reportedly placed the subject in handcuffs after he allegedly also was found to be in possession of two firearms. Also, the subject reportedly asked the deputies if he could have one of his cigarettes, where they allegedly found a small baggie of methamphetamine inside the pack of cigarettes.
Online court documents say Ryakmyatullov has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid and a Class E Felony for Unlawful Used of a Weapon- Possess a Weapon and a Felony Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety.
Ryakmyatullov’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court in Sedalia is pending.
