Bond for a Higginsville man who faces multiple felony charges after a disturbance and subsequent standoff with law-enforcement officers on Monday, January 29, in Lafayette County, has been set at six figures.
A probable-cause statement says four children ran out the residence when authorities arrived on the scene in the 1700 block of Lipper Avenue. Shortly thereafter, their mother reportedly exited the residence. After about a 30-minute standoff with law-enforcement officers, which included the resident allegedly pointing a gun at authorities and the children and his wife threatening to shoot them, 39-year-old John David Pippin III gave up and was arrested.
Online court documents say Pippin has been charged with two counts of a Class A Felony for Assault or Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Causing Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim; a Class D Felony for Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $250,000.
Pippin’s initial hearing at Lafayette County Circuit Court in Lexington is pending.
