Over the past couple of years, Marshall City Council members have been trying to bring a grocery store to the city.
At the council meeting on Monday, March 5, Ward 1 Councilman Ron Ott said he and City Administrator David Haugland, as well as Ward 1 Councilman Dewey Hendrix, have visited some grocers in the last few weeks.

Ott said it’s been harder than he expected. He said he thought after taking on this challenge nearly two years ago, when he was elected, Marshall would have a new grocery store by now because the city has been without one for about 2-1/2 years.

Ott said they will continue the pursuit. He is hopeful things will turn around and the search will result in something positive in the near future.
