A Kansas City man who allegedly cashed two forged checks from a business account last year has been charged with two counts of a felony in Cooper County.
According to a probable-cause statement, Lloyd Mervin Thompson reportedly was viewed on surveillance video as he cashed the checks from Widel, Inc., at two different Citizens Community Bank locations in Cooper County on August 3. One check reportedly was for $2,386.44 and the other was for $1,991.10. The employee of Widel, Inc., whose signature was on the checks reportedly told authorities she does not know Thompson and had written the two checks and mailed them to other businesses.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued, and Thompson– who reportedly admitted to authorities that he had cashed the checks– has been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Forgery. Bond has been set at $7,500 cash or surety.
Thompson’s initial appearance at Cooper County Circuit Court is pending.
