An Odessa man is charged with a felony for damage he allegedly caused during an incident last month in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says on March 29, Higginsville Police officers responded to a report of an alleged disturbance at a residences in the 2300 block of Oak Street.
Upon arrival, a victim stated he was in his bedroom when 28-year-old Jared Whitworth allegedly entered the room, threaten him with a knife and began to cut wires on home-security cameras. Whitworth reportedly also caused damage to the front door of the residence and a couch. The victim stated he did not want to press charges as long as Whitworth left the residence. However, officers were dispatched back to the residence five minutes later as Whitworth returned, where he reportedly put dirt into the gas tank of the victim’s vehicle.
Online court documents say Whitworth has been charged with a Class E Felony for First-Degree Property Damage. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.
Whitworth’s initial hearing at Lafayette County Circuit Court is pending.
