Marshall’s City Council will remain the same, and two new members were elected to the Marshall School Board during Tuesday’s Municipal Election.
According to vote totals, Ron Ott retained his Ward 1 seat on the council with a 339-277 win over challenger Jim Steinmetz; and Kirk Arends earned another two-year term in Ward 2 by fending off the challenge of Teresa Maples Hoey 197-178. Larry Godsey finished third in the race with 135 votes. Dan Brandt in Ward 3 and Rudy Reyes in Ward 4 were running unopposed and retained their seats, as well.
In the race for the Marshall School Board, Erin Ann Williams received 1,314 votes to earn one of the two open seats, and Bryan Jacques garnered 960 votes to get the other. Matt Smith finished with 898 votes and Shannon Johnson 516.
And in a countywide question, voters narrowly approved a half-cent sales-tax measure put on the ballot, with all of the proceeds to be used for economic development throughout the county for a 20-year period, by a count of 1,704 yes votes to 1,611 no votes.
