During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, May 3, commissioners will dot all the Is and cross all the Ts, making the results of the half-cent sales-tax proposal county voters approved during the Municipal Election official.
At the commission meeting on Tuesday, May 1, Northern District Commissioner Richard Clemens made a motion to approve a list of persons who will serve on the board of trustees, which will oversee how the proceeds from the sales-tax measure for countywide economic development will be spent.
Clemens, whose motion was approved, said he and Fenner are assigned to talk to leaders of the smaller communities in the county.
Collection of the sales tax will begin on October 1 and sunset in 20 years. It has been estimated that it will rake in more than $20 million in that time frame.
