Three area residents are facing felony charges after an alleged burglary incident earlier this year in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says on March 6, Lafayette County deputies responded to a report of an alleged burglary in progress at a residence in the 3900 block of Route Z in Bates City. The deputies stopped the a vehicle on the driveway to the residence and spoke with the occupants, 20-year-old Hunter Vorwark and 17-year-old Hunter Campbell, both of Higginsville. Deputies reportedly found several items in the suspects’ vehicle with a total estimated value of $1,500.
Also, deputies were told of two accomplices in the burglary, 30-year-old Samantha Appleby and 42-year-old Jason Waddell, both of Lexington.
Online court documents say each suspect has been charged with a Class D Felony for Second-Degree Burglary, with Campbell being charged with another Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or More. Also, Appleby has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance with bond set at $15,000 cash or surety. Bond for the other suspects has been set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Online court documents also say Vorwark entered a plea of guilty on April 16, and was sentenced to 120 days of shock incarceration at the Department of Corrections. Campbell has a case hearing scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 16, at the Lafayette County Circuit Court, where initial hearings for Appleby and Waddell are pending.
