Saline County Commissioners voted to purchase a new computer system called “The New Computer System Concepts,” according to Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. during the meeting of the commission on Thursday, June 7. He said the purchase will aid the clerk’s, auditor’s and treasurer’s offices.
Clerk Debbie Russell explained the system currently being used is antiquated.
Russell said the commission needed to act to approve the contract before time runs out so the county can qualify for a grant.
Northern District Commissioner Richard Clemens said the grant involves the sheriff’s department.
Clemens said this new system also will allow the county to implement direct deposit. He said direct deposit is not feasible with the current system due to security concerns.
