The Mar-Saline Branch of the NAACP will host its annual Freedom Fund and Awards Banquet on Sunday, June 24, in Marshall.
According to a news release, the featured speaker is scheduled to be Dr. Troy Nash, who “believes in the power of excellence. He is an innovator, pioneer and maverick leader who blazed a path as a successful real-estate entrepreneur, keynote speaker and global humanitarian.”
The awards to be handed out include: the “Outstanding Educator” award to Jonathan White; the “Community Service” award to Keith Wright; and the “Josephine Lawrence Humanitarian” award to Wellington Gorham Jr.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Martin Community Center.
