A 29-year-old Kansas City resident has been charged with felonies for allegedly being in possession of several prescription-type bottles containing controlled pills and a weapon after a traffic stop on June 19 on Highway 127 in Sweet Springs.
According to authorities, Kordero Gene Williams was found to be in possession of an unlabeled plastic container with the bottles containing more than 70 Alprazolam pills; a Glock 17 handgun; and some marijuana. Williams also was said to have nearly $2,500 in cash on him, including all denominations from $1 to $100 bills ($1– 131; $5– 3; $10– 4; $20– 67; $50– 1; $100– 9). The deputy’s report also says a criminal history of Williams revealed that he is a convicted felon.
Online court documents say a warrant has been served and Williams has been charged with a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash or surety, with several conditions, including he is not to possess a firearm.
Williams’ arraignment hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Saline County Circuit Court.
