Due to protocol, Marshall Ward 4 Councilman Rudy Reyes had to resign from his seat at the end of June.
During a meeting of the council on Monday, July 16, Mayor Mark Gooden, who pointed out Reyes resigned due to him moving outside his ward, gave an update on the search for Reyes’ replacement.

Ward 4 Councilman Tom Hagedorn asked if the council could go ahead and consider approval of Vasquez.
But after a short discussion, the council decided to delay considering Gooden’s recommendation until its next meeting on Monday, August 6.
