Nine persons– six from Missouri and three from Kansas– suffered injuries in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Lafayette County on Friday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a westbound vehicle, driven by 66-year-old Tyrone Perry, of St. Charles, reportedly struck the rear of another westbound vehicle, which was stopped in the roadway and being driven by 34-year-old Ralph Howard, of Hesston, Kansas.
Eight of the injuries were reported as being minor; and 34-year-old Megan Howard, of Hesston, sustained moderate injuries. All of the injured persons, including five youths- ages 6, 8, 10, 12 and 13-, reportedly were transported by Concordia and Higginsville E.M.S. units to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. at the 46.2 mile marker on I-70.
