The MMU Board of Public Works approved to recommend a bid for the mayor to sign regarding the painting of the water tower during its meeting on Thursday, August 2.
Underground Facilities Director Grant Piper recommended the board approve the low bid of $131,888 for the water tower painting project, but is contingent on receiving a particular safety report.
Piper added the line item on the bid is for whatever design or logo Missouri Valley College chooses for its side of the water tower. The board approved to recommend the mayor sign the agreement with Cunningham Sandblasting and Painting during a future city council meeting.
In other business, Piper said a study done recently helped determine a cost-effective way of fixing the sewer main pipes on High Street.
With the price coming in at $83,000 less than what was budgeted, the board approved Piper’s recommendation.
