A Carrollton resident is facing a felony charge after allegedly assaulting another person on August 29.
According to a probable-cause statement, the alleged victim told authorities that Scovern Cameron Norris had punched the person with a closed fist on the leg and placed his hands around the person’s neck to the point it was hard for the person to breathe. The officer reportedly observed marks on the alleged victim consistent with the account of the incident. Norris was arrested and taken to the Chariton County Jail.
According to online court documents, Norris has been charged with a Class D Felony for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash or corporate surety, no 10-percent allowed.
Norris was arraigned in custody on Friday, August 31. His cause has been continued for a counsel-status hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, at Carroll County Circuit Court.
