Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said: “Transportation is the key to economic development. We have approximately 500 trucks in and out of Marshall each week, and beginning next year when the steel plants are in production in Pettis County, there will be between 200 and 250 (more) trucks a week (coming through).”
The commissioners pointed out several counties up and down U.S. Highway 65 also have been asked to send letters in support, as well as the city of Marshall.
