Three Benton County residents suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Johnson County on Sunday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a westbound vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Craig Dewitt, of Warsaw, reportedly overtook and struck another westbound vehicle, driven by 60-year-old Randy Rittman, of Knob Noster. Dewitt’s vehicle then ran off the left side of the roadway and came to rest in the median.
While Rittman reportedly was not injured, Dewitt and passengers in his vehicle- 20-year-olds Mary Porter and Charlie Sprinkle, of Edwards, who reportedly were not wearing seat belts- were transported by Johnson County ambulances to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg for treatment.
The crash happened just before 3:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 50, just east of Route P.
