James E. (Jimmy) Johns, 88, of Grafton, IL, formerly of Mexico, MO, died Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Integrity Retirement Home in Godfrey, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery in Slater, MO. Memorials may be made to family choice.
Born December 27, 1927, in Slater, he was the son of the late Thomas Robert Nelson Johns and Angie B. Mundy Johns. He married Betty Jean Surber who preceded him in death on July 3, 2007, after 52 years of marriage. He worked in the scrap and metal business for many years. He was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include two children, James Lee Johns and wife Cheryl of out of state and Angie Weiner and husband Kevin of Grafton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four siblings: Frank Johns, Bob Johns, Carol Ann Johns and Mary Jane Johns all of Mexico, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jimmy was preceded in death by two sons, Clay Edward Langley and Randall Johns; and one sister, Vivian Johns.
