A joint investigation by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined four Slater residents allegedly committed arson which destroyed a home in Miami earlier this year.
According to a news release, on October 16, a residence in the 300 block of Miami Street in Miami was found fully engulfed in flames around 10 p.m. The home was totally destroyed and the estimated total damages was valued at $40,000.
The investigation reportedly determined four Slater residents– 28-year-old Joshua Reeves; 20-year-old Sabrina Reeves; 41-year-old Lillian McDaniel; and 18-year-old Jordan McDaniel– allegedly caused the fire as each has been being charged with a Class D Felony for Second-Degree Arson. Cash-only bonds have been set at $125,000 for Joshua Reeves and $50,000 for the other suspects.
Joshua Reeves appeared for his arraignment hearing in the matter on Thursday, December 6, at Saline County Circuit Court. His cause was continued with a counsel-status hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12. Also, Joshua Reeves is facing a felony charge in a separate case for an alleged post he made on Facebook which he threatened to kill people on November 9.
Initial hearings are pending for the other arson suspects.
