A Sedalia Walmart employee has been charged with a felony for allegedly stealing more than $2,000 out of the cash drawers of the lines where she was working over a month-long period of time.
According to a probable-cause statement, 37-year-old Monique D. Williams, of Sedalia, is alleged to have taken $2,051 from Walmart’s registers between November 21 and December 21, 2018. An employee at the store said Williams used a technique to steal the money where she would leave the register drawer open after a cash or cash-back transaction and take cash out of the drawer and put the money in her pocket. The complainant provided law enforcement with a list of every transaction; the amount the complainant says was taken; and a video of the transactions.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been requested, and Williams has been charged with a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or More.
Williams’ initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
