Kyle Wilkens, Rural Policy Director for U.S. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II’s office, presented Saline County Commissioners with a copy of the Congressional Record honoring the late Northern District Commissioner Richard Clemens during their meeting on Thursday, January 17.
Wilkens said the Congressional Record is a daily record of the House and the Senate. He said every day they are in session, a report is typed up- and members of Congress are able to put in extension remarks at the back of the Congressional Records. Wilkens added that “as long as we have a country with a House of Representatives, his family can go back and find that in the record.”
Wilkens read part of what Cleaver said on the House Floor on December 18, 2018, about Clemens, who died on December 10:

Wilkens praised Clemens and the other commissioners for keeping partisan politics out of the county’s business.

Current commissioners are: Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr., Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner and Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden, who was appointed to fill out the remainder of Clemens’ unexpired term earlier this month.
