Saline County Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said a request has been made by Sheriff Cindi Mullins to hire a new deputy.
Guthrey read the details during the commission meeting on Tuesday, January 29.

Guthrey said Summers has law-enforcement experience.

Commissioners approved the hiring of Summers, whose first day on the job is scheduled to be Monday, February 11.
