Formal charges are pending after a Sedalia teenager was arrested in relation to an investigation involving child pornography.
A post on the Sedalia Police Department’s Facebook page says: on February 12, the department was made aware that nude and/or semi-nude photos of several local underage females had been posted to several Instagram accounts.
Authorities investigated and were able to identify one of the persons allegedly responsible for the accounts.
On February 15, members of the police department executed a search warrant at a residence and arrested a 17-year-old male.
At this time, authorities are seeking charges- including Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation; Promoting Child Pornography in the Second Degree; Possession of Child Pornography; and Furnishing Child Pornography to a Minor.
The investigation is continuing for additional suspects.
Due to KMMO policy, the name of the suspect will only be released if formal charges are filed.
