Marshall fire fighters responded on Friday, March 8, to extinguish a fire inside a camper that was parked outside a residence near Shackleford.
According to a fire department spokesperson, the call came in at 6:59 p.m., and firemen arrived at the scene on Missouri Highway 20 at 7:08. They had the fire under control at 7:20 and were back in quarters at 7:40 p.m.
The spokesperson said fire fighters didn’t have to pull a hose off the truck; they just used a portable water-tank extinguisher to douse the blaze.
Preliminary cause of the fire was deemed to be a lit candle inside the camper.
The camper was valued at $3,000 and its contents at $500 by the resident. No estimate of actual damage is available at this time.
No injuries were reported from the scene.
