A Marshall High School student has qualified for the state tournament after he placed at the Central District Debate Tournament earlier this week in Warrensburg.
According to a news release, Drew Arends qualified for the state tournament by placing second in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
Others who earned top-five finishes at district were: Rhiannon Bowlen was third and Connor Grossenburg fifth in Lincoln-Douglas Debate; and John Miles and Olivia Kiso were fourth and Francisco Camacho and Easton Blackburn fifth in the Public Forum Debate.
According to the Missouri State High School Activities Association, the state tournament is scheduled to be held from April 11-13 at Missouri State University in Springfield.
