With the water level of the Missouri River still threatening, during the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Tuesday, March 26, Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said he’s talked to Saline County Emergency Management Agency Director Tony Day more than once in the past couple of days about the situation north of Malta Bend.
Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said, up to this point, all of the main levees in Saline County are holding. But he said the water is getting near the tops of some.
Fenner said Day didn’t say how many sandbags have been used so far, but he did say more volunteers are needed.
In Carroll County, Norborne R-8 Schools are not in session today in order to aid in the sandbagging effort near the town.
