Earlier this month, voters in Marshall elected a new mayor. Julie Schwetz was elected to replace two-term mayor Mark Gooden.
After being sworn in at the city council meeting on Monday, April 15, Schwetz thanked voters for putting their trust in her.

Schwetz said she wants to keep the lines of communication open between city officials, city departments and citizens.

Schwetz’s term runs through April 2023.
Five councilpersons also were sworn in- Dewey Hendrix in Ward 1; Chuck Hines in Ward 2; Charlie Guthrey in Ward 3; and Tom Hagedorn and Kathy Vasquez in Ward 4. Each is a two-year term; except Vasquez’s term, which will run through April 2020.
