Missouri Valley College’s Biology Department is scheduled to host an “Earth Day Extravaganza” from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 27, at Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park in Saline County.
According to a news release, MVC students will lead the event designed for all-ages by sharing their different interests and expertise with visitors. Educational booths will be set up along the Oumessourit Wetland Spring Bluffs Trail with topics ranging from turtles and mammals to composting and recycling. The Oumessourit Wetland Spring Bluffs Trail is an easily accessible hike with little to no incline.
At 10:30 a.m., participants can meet at the large shelter house for a guided nature hike along the Earthworks Trail, which is a moderately difficult hike with steep hills and narrow walkways.
Also, it is highly recommended that participants bring bug spray and sunscreen, as well as wear sturdy footwear.
Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park is located 12 miles north of Marshall on Highway 122.
