A Brookfield man has been charged with felonies relating to two separate incidents last week in Linn County.
According to a probable-cause statement, at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, Marceline Police officers took a report from a male victim who stated 36-year-old Chad McCormick allegedly was in a vehicle, pulled a handgun from behind a seat and pointed it at him during an argument in the 400 block of East Hauser. The victim took a picture of McCormick’s vehicle during the incident, and a witness provided a written statement about the incident.
Another probable cause statement says at about 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, Linn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 26600 block of Idaho Road in Brookfield. Deputies spoke with a female victim who reportedly stated McCormick got physical with her during an argument. The victim was noticed to have scratches on her neck. McCormick was apprehended and a search of his vehicle discovered a BB handgun and drug paraphernalia which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Online court documents say McCormick, in the first case, has been charged with an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action and a Class D Felony for Second-Degree Assault. In the second case, McCormick has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Class E Felony for Third-Degree Domestic Assault. Bond has not yet been set.
An initial hearing for each case is pending at Linn County Circuit Court.
