A Waverly woman has been charged with a drug-related felony for allegedly being in possession of methamphetamine on Saturday, April 20.
According to a Marshall Police officer’s report, two persons reportedly were trying to avoid being detected by the officer by cutting through back yards. Once the officer circled the block, the male subject fled, but the female subject- who reportedly appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs- was detained. The officer noted the woman tried to hide a small box in her pocket; and she said the male subject had forced it upon her. The box reportedly contained three small bags of methamphetamine- weighing a total of 21 grams.
According to online court documents, 32-year-old Kalya Atherton has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash or surety. The male subject has not been charged at this time.
Atherton was arraigned on Monday, April 22. Her counsel-status hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Saline County Circuit Court.
