A Centralia man has been charged with a felony for alleged burglary of a business earlier this month in Pettis County.
A probable-cause statement says Sedalia Police officers responded to a reported theft at Walmart on West Broadway Boulevard on May 4.
Officers spoke with an employee regarding a male subject who would refund items he never purchased. The subject reportedly was noticed on video surveillance putting two trees and a shrub on a cart outside and then headed to customer service inside to refund the items without a receipt. The subject received a gift card for $101.57.
During the investigation, the subject was identified as 23-year-old Zachary Poland, who allegedly conducted similar incidents at Walmarts in Marshall and Boonville, and was banned from the Boonville location.
Online court documents say Poland has been charged with a Class D Felony for Burglary in the Second Degree. Bond has not been set.
An initial hearing for Poland is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
