A 61-year-old Barnett man was killed and a 55-year-old Smithton woman suffered serious injuries in a rollover traffic crash in Morgan County on Saturday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by Billy Scrivner, reportedly suffered a mechanical failure, which caused the vehicle to cross the center line and travel off the south edge of the roadway into a field, where the vehicle overturned numerous times.
Scrivner was pronounced deceased at the scene at 5:27 p.m. by a doctor. Penny Houston reportedly was transported by Mid-Mo ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City for treatment. Neither of the vehicle’s occupants reportedly was wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened at 4:15 p.m. on Missouri Highway 52, just west of Buttercup Road.
